Spend a Delightful Holiday as You Learn the Art of Winemaking

A vineyard stay in Austria opens up a diverse range of opportunities to get familiar with the art of winemaking.

  • Early in the year, the first activity in the vineyard is winter pruning. It’s about selectively cutting the canes during the dormant season and manually tying the grapevines.
  • Starting from April, new vines are planted, thus rejuvenating the vineyard.
  • In June, the unique fragrant scent of grapevine flowers hangs in the air. Grape thinning is an important task in order to produce high-quality fruit. It’s done by hand in August.
  • The annual highlight in the vineyards takes place in September: grape harvest, pressing and other tasks in the winemaking process. Depending on the grape variety and the terroir, the wines are then given the time they need to mature to perfection in the wine cellars.
  • In some regions, such as in Styria, the new vintage is presented and sampled at the beginning of November. February and March are great months for wine aficionados. This is the time when the fine, new vintages are bottled with great care. Vineyards and wineries offer them for sale.

Where Would You Like to Go for a Vineyard Stay? which province do you choose?

Burgenland with its wine regions around Lake Neusiedl Central Burgenland and Southern Burgenland?

Or perhaps Lower Austria, home to the famous wine regions Weinviertel, Wachau and the Pannonian lowlands?

Or do you prefer Styria where visitors flock to Southern and Western Styria and to the Vulkanland region?

There’s nowhere better to sip delicious wine than in the place where it matures to perfection - in the wine cellar.
